With increasing incomes, rapid urbanisation together with strong economic growth and young population, Vietnam is nowadays one of the fastest growing retail markets in Asia. The year 2016 has seen a significant emerge in retail sector with many remarkable events such as high-value M&A affairs or serial opening of convenience store chains so far; while the amount of FDI generally maintains robust.

BBGV Executive Director joined the Conference on promoting Foreign Investment, Trade and Tourism in Ninh Thuan province, Vietnam

Peter Rimmer - Executive Director of British Business Group Vietnam attended the conference on Foreign Investment, Trade and Tourism in Ninh Thuan province on Thursday, September 29th 2016. The conference was co-organised by The People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The main economic sectors of being discussed and considered were: (i) renewable energy (solar and wind), (ii) tourism and tourist real estates and (iii) high-tech agriculture (cultivation and breeding).

Ninh Thuan province is located in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam which is also the gateway connection from the Southeast economic zone to provinces in the Central Highlands and South Central region. The provincial economic structure in 2015 was: agriculture, forestry and fisheries accounted for 33.8%; industry and construction accounted for 26,4%; service accounted for 39,8%; with total export turnover reaching USD 60 million. The development orientation of Ninh Thuan follows the “green and clean economy” which is supported by preferential investment policies in land and tax regulations. Read more
