Robert Herjavec Knows How to Win Friends and, More Importantly, Porsches

The Porsche 911 is one of the most revered sports cars of all time, its legend only increasing as it enters its seventh decade of continuous production. September marks the 60th anniversary of the first example rolling off the line, so we’re sharing personal stories from a collection of owners: first, Robert Herjavec and his 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster.

Last week, we asked you what beer style you're most excited to drink this fall. You said:

A Pilgrimage to the Promised Land of Kiteboarding

Hatteras Island is the promised land of kiteboarding — and windsurfing, kite foiling and the rapidly growing sport of wing foiling — for a number of reasons.

For one, the island elbows into the Atlantic Ocean south of Nags Head for around 50 miles, with nearly endless launches on both the ocean and Pamlico Sound. Second, most nearshore areas of the sound are shallow enough to stand, which takes a major fear factor out of the equation for those learning and progressing. Third, much of the island is national seashore, so beach access is a non-issue. And fourth, Hatteras Island takes a right-angle turn at the village of Buxton, which means that kiters — from beginners to professionals — can find places to practice and progress in the ocean or sound almost regardless of the wind direction.

An Ode to the Cobra’s Fang, Tiki’s Most Interesting Cocktail

The first time I walked into Paradise Lost, I knew what I was going to order before I sat down. I’d been anticipating my visit to the tiki bar all week, and the first time I looked at the menu, my eyes zoned in on one drink and one drink only: the Cobra’s Fang. Although I love other tiki mainstays like the Mai Tai, Jungle Bird and Singapore Sling, the Cobra’s Fang is my favorite. It’s also really hard to find.

Many tiki drinks, both classic and nouveau, are labor-intensive. They often contain a mix of spirits, juices, syrups and elaborate garnishes, both edible and inedible. The star syrup in the Cobra’s Fang, fassionola, can alone contain upwards of 15 ingredients to give it its signature sweet, tropical flavor. For a bar like Paradise Lost, this means employing someone to specifically make ingredients like this outside of business hours.
