A dashing Professor Sir John Eccles was pictured on this day in 1963 dancing with Princess Desiree of Sweden after winning the Nobel Prize in Stockholm. Sir John, a professor of physiology at John Curtin School of Medical Research at the ANU was part of a team responsible for research into the function of synapses, the links between neurons.
