Letter from the Editor
I am the first to admit that I will sometimes try things based on results from people I know rather than waiting for scientific research to be accepted by the mainstream. About 4 years ago I was introduced to the use of low level electromagnetic frequencies to improve circulation, reduce leg cramping, and shorten recovery times from 50 to 100 mile cycling events. I had heard anecdotal stories about diabetes patients who had improved their A1c levels after using these devices. I was searching for a reason EMF works to improve glucose control, and now I have my answer.
This week our intern Arjay Mendoza, PharmD Candidate, University of Colorado, has a review of research done at the UI Carver College of Medicine, Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics, that shows the science behind how EMF works and why this may be the most passive way to improve your patients' glucose levels.
