International students find community at Bethany Lutheran in Mankato
Despite COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, international student enrollment continues to grow steadily on private campuses.

International students make up about 20 percent of full-time student body at Bethany Lutheran. In contrast, international students on average make up about five percent of student enrollment at private campuses in the state, according to the Minnesota Private College Council.

Minnesota Private College Council President Paul Cerkvenik said this is as many schools continue recovering from pandemic-related enrollment declines.

 
What else we're watching:
Protests against Iran's clerical establishment erupted two months ago after the death in custody of a young woman detained by morality police for allegedly breaking the strict hijab rules.

They are reported to have spread to 140 cities and towns and evolved into the most significant challenge to the Islamic Republic in over a decade.

At least 326 protesters, including 43 children and 25 women, have been killed in a violent crackdown by security forces, according to Iran Human Rights. (BBC)

Minnesota National Guard breaks new ground in senior enlisted position. The Minnesota National Guard broke new ground for enlisted leadership this week, promoting an Air Force sergeant to the Guard's top enlisted position for the first time.

Fans of 'all things nerdy' converge on Minneapolis Convention Center for Twin Cities ConIn Minneapolis, fans of comics, movies and TV made their way to Twin Cities Con over the weekend. The convention celebrates “all things nerdy,” and hosts an array of events including panel discussions and a costume contest. 

Amid the war ruins in Ukraine, Banksy seeds art. A delicate painting of a gymnast doing a handstand has popped up on the wall of a wrecked building outside of Kyiv and appears to be the work of the British graffiti artist known as Banksy. Banksy posted photos on his Instagram page of the artwork in Borodyanka, northwest of Ukraine's capital.

Democrats retain control of the Senate after holding Nevada seat.  The chamber was decided Saturday evening after Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto defeated Republican nominee Adam Laxalt. That gives Democrats 50 seats.

And in sports: Vikings win in overtime in a messy, thrilling game against the Buffalo Bills 33-30. No such luck for Wild and Wolves.
