Fun in the sun: NASA makes a surprising announcement

NASA recently had the entire country buzzing with a planned announcement about a major moon discovery. Social media was full of theories as to what NASA’s event would tell us — with people guessing everything from aliens to rare minerals or metals being found on the moon’s surface.

As it turned out, there really was a huge discovery: water. That’s right, NASA’s scientists found evidence of water on the moon’s surface. This has major implications for future moon bases and exploration, but more important than water itself was where it was found. Scientists actually found water at the bottom of a crater on the moon’s near side. This means water can survive with no atmosphere and the sun shining on it. Fascinating. You might think the moon is close, but looks are deceiving.
