Dear John,

As healthcare continues to evolve, I am excited to say that ACDIS and the CDI profession continue to evolve along with it! Outpatient CDI is gaining steam, and ACDIS is here to help you get fully prepared. While most outpatient CDI programs are still in their infancy, we are taking the lead in defining roles, focus, and establishing standards and core competencies.

ACDIS is dedicated to supporting the CDI profession and all of those who work in it. We want to help each of you grow to be industry leaders – and we have two new training offerings that will help you stay at the forefront.

ACDIS has released a CDI for Outpatient & a Risk Adjustment Documentation and Coding Boot Camp as the new go-to source for outpatient CDI professionals and those seeking to begin a CDI program in the outpatient arena.

The CDI for Outpatient Boot Camp provides tools for outpatient CDI professionals to practice in the outpatient setting and understand the impact of CDI functions. The boot camp examines diagnoses impacting hierarchical condition categories (HCCs) and provides ACDIS-endorsed best practices for record review and query, medical necessity documentation, CDI role in charge capture, and ethics and compliance. This in-person training will help you implement a step-by-step process for thorough medical record review based on industry guidelines for the outpatient arena, develop compliant verbal and written physician queries and understand how to effectively query providers in the outpatient setting, and more. The CDI for Outpatient Boot Camp is also a great way to prepare for the CCDS-O Exam! Walk away with a step-by-step process for medical record review, developing compliant verbal and written physician queries, and effectively querying providers in the outpatient setting.

The Risk Adjustment Documentation and Coding Boot Camp reviews both inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines and their application to the CMS-Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) methodology, and includes detailed instruction on the individual HCCs and identification of opportunities for improved documentation. Clinical scenarios are used to demonstrate concepts and validate learning. Similar to how implementing a CDI department strengthens documentation for DRG assignment, this Boot Camp uses the same principles to improve documentation for risk adjustment.

ACDIS is very proud to add these new offerings to our lineup of industry leading boot camps. We hope that you can join us for one and continue to advance your CDI career! We are holding these boot camps at locations across the country. If you can't attend a boot camp at one of our locations you can bring our ACDIS instructions to your organization!

I hope you’ll take advantage of these impactful new classes. We’re thrilled to be helping lead the CDI profession beyond hospital walls.

Sincerely,

Brian Murphy
