Dear Friend,
Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
Standing for the Sanctity of Life
For more than 45 years, the Hyde Amendment has ensured taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions. This week, I sent a letter to Senator Chuck Schumer, along with 47 of my pro-life colleagues, pledging to vote against any bill that would undermine the Hyde Amendment, which has saved the lives of nearly 2.5 million preborn children. Living the American Dream
As a kid growing up in a single-parent household in an underserved community, I often felt overlooked and hopeless — like my life wouldn’t amount to much. But thanks to my momma’s hard work, my mentor’s lessons, and a good education, I am living the American Dream.
Each day I serve, I keep in mind the kids growing up like I did — kids in marginalized communities who might not know where their next meal is coming from. I recently sat down with the New York Post to discuss how my life experience has shaped my political views and why I believe Republican policies can benefit the next generation of Americans. The “Sweet Tea”
Click to watch
If the past few years have shown us anything, it’s that we could all use some good news, or — as I’m calling it — “sweet tea.” That’s why I’m starting a new page on my website devoted to positive and uplifting stories from across our state. If you have a good news story to share, please post it on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtag #SCSweetTea, and click here to check out some of the great things happening in South Carolina!
Sincerely,
