Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! Supporting Americans on July Fourth The Fourth of July never fails to remind me of the strength, resiliency, and promise of America. Though we have not always been a perfect nation, we have accomplished more than anyone thought possible. And together, I know we will continue to advance the principles upon which this nation was built — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — for all people. While this July Fourth presented a great opportunity to reflect on the many blessings in America, the sad reality is that it was also the most expensive Fourth of July on record. President Biden’s economic policies — along with massive amounts of Democrat spending — have led to skyrocketing inflation that harms vulnerable Americans the most. I recently introduced the Inflation Prevention Act to bar any legislation estimated to increase inflation until the year-over-year inflation rate drops below 4.5 percent. It’s up to Congress to support vulnerable Americans by enacting responsible economic policies, and this bill would do just that. Click here to read more. The Sweet Tea in Judson, S.C. This summer, I’m spilling the “Sweet Tea” by sharing good news stories from across our great state. This week, I’m highlighting the community of Judson! In a time where division is found more often than not, the Judson community’s heart of service is on full display. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pastor Allan Sherer created “pandemic pods,” which brought members of the community together to mentor and support underserved students. His efforts were met by churches, business leaders and other ministries to establish “The Judson School,” a preschool which will open this fall for underserved children. I believe education is the key to achieving the American Dream. That’s why I recently introduced the Educational Choice for Children Act, along with Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.), to provide tax credits for certain charitable donations covering K-12 public and private education expenses. This bill would allow any American to profoundly impact the next generation — just as the folks in Judson are doing. This community is investing not only in the education of these students, but also in the people they are becoming. Let’s refuse to let the good go unnoticed; share your story using the hashtag #SCSweetTea! Read more about the Judson School here. Sincerely, |
