Our expert panel discusses the humanitarian crisis
You’re invited to Australia for UNHCR’s Briefing on the Ukraine Emergency
Dear Supporter,
Please join us next Thursday for a special online briefing on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, where the war has displaced almost a quarter of the population.
Date: Thursday 7 April 2022 Time: 4pm AEST Ticket price: Free entry Webinar link: Provided with registration confirmation email
This event will feature a panel of speakers who have witnessed the crisis in Ukraine and neighbouring countries first-hand, including:
• Shabia Mantoo, UNHCR Global Spokesperson, who is currently deployed to Poland where millions of refugees are arriving from Ukraine
• Omar Dehen, journalist with SBS World News, who recently returned from two weeks of reporting from the Poland-Ukraine border
In just one month, the war in Ukraine has triggered mass displacement, with more than four million people fleeing the country, and at least 6.5 million more internally displaced – many cut off from power, water and humanitarian support. Our panel will discuss the challenges refugees are facing, and how UNHCR is delivering essential protection and aid across the region.
This event is part of our regular online Frontline Club, which brings together supporters to hear from humanitarian workers, refugees and experts sharing their insights.
