1. New photo of Apple’s iPhone repair and calibration machine surface online
By Mikey Campbell, Apple Insider
An image of the special machine Apple uses to conduct back-of-store iPhone repairs surfaced online on Tuesday, with the photo showing off a few more features than previous leaks including an up-close look at screen calibration controls. More»
Why This Matters: My iPhone display just broke (from the battery distorting and dislodging it). When I went to see about repairing it, I was warned that it probably “wouldn’t survive calibration,” in a tone that suggested a dark ritual conducted in the magic cellar at the Apple Store. Now I know what they were talking about. -Cynthia Wisehart

2. Microsoft sued for millions over Windows 10 upgrades
By Peter Bright, Ars Technica
Unhappy Windows 10 users in Illinois are taking Microsoft to court, claiming that problems caused by the Windows 10 upgrade show that it was negligently designed, that Microsoft fraudulently failed to disclose its defects, and that the upgrade is unfit for purpose. More»
Why This Matters: More things you already knew. And it’s probably a lost cause, but it’s good to vent. My favorite part is where Ars shows the Microsoft marketing chart touting Windows 10 as the “fastest Windows adoption—ever!” Bullying works! The story also includes Microsoft’s empathetic official response to the suit. –Cynthia Wisehart

3. Sound like you’re supposed to: The Roadie 2 gives you no excuse for an out-of-tune guitar
By Roberto Baldwin, Engadget
I have what has been described as a "really crappy guitar." It's not even mine. It belongs to my friend who, before handing it to me, said, "Yeah, I let my kid hit this thing with stuff. Also, I've never changed the strings." It seemed like the perfect test subject for a new peg-turning auto-tuner from the makers of the Roadie. More»
Why This Matters: The original Roadie needed a smartphone app—Roadie 2 can just tune off string vibrations (just like a musician!). But who am I to judge? I play piano because I have no ear. If I played guitar, I would need this. –Cynthia Wisehart
