She says her facility chose to focus on sepsis detection because the condition is “prevalent, expensive, and deadly.” Expect The Joint Commission (TJC) and other accrediting organizations to more closely examine your efforts to prevent surgical fires after the FDA in June issued an alert reminding healthcare professionals and facility staff of “factors that increase the risk of surgical fires on or near a patient.”
