Is America Heading for "Mobocracy?"Our Founders willed us a Constitutional Republic, Not a "Democracy."In an article I wrote on April 12, 2024 titled, “Why America Needs God Like Never Before” I passed along a tweet from Victor David Hanson in which he listed events that have taken place during the Biden Presidency that are threatening traditional American values. He wondered “Why are ‘they’ doing this to us?” He offered a number of ideas that are also shared in my April 12 article, all of which seem plausible to me. But from a big picture perspective I think the answer to his question boils down to a misunderstanding of the Constitutional Republic form of government our Founding Fathers gave us. Or, perhaps their dislike for our current form of government stems from its complexity which makes it difficult for them to undemocratically force their desires on the masses of Americans. In an age when we have become accustomed to instant gratification, it may be understandable why self-proclaimed “progressives” who believe government has all the answers may be frustrated with our Constitutional Republic. It is a fact that our current form of government makes it difficult to “get things done.” But that was exactly the point. Without complex structure of checks and balances a simple majority would do great harm to weaker minorities. The system of checks and balances established in our Constitutional Republic were put there to ensure freedom of all citizens and to protect the minority from a majority that would do them harm. Our Founders were very much aware of human nature! In effect, our Founders gave us a representative democracy so that to an extent all citizens had some say in the way they were governed but safe guards against abuse of majority rule. Here is the structure of government that our Founders bequeathed to American citizens which “progressives” have been seeking to dismantle since the election of Woodrow Wilson who was elected in 1912 and the establishment of the income tax and the Federal Reserve in 1913. So, our Founders gave us a Constitutional Republicthat provided for what in effect is a representative democracy with checks and balances. Power is split into many different structures to ensure that no one branch of government or people associated with it gains excessive power. In addition to the Federal government in which the judiciary, the executive and the legislature each check one another, we also have autonomous states that reserve an enormous amount of power that the Federal government has no right to interfere with. And the Constitution ensured very limited interference from the Federal Government against labor, finance and business as well as charity, police and education. An example of the judiciary holding the legislature in check was provided last week when in the 1984 Chevron case was reversed, effectively rolling back excessive power of the legislature to enable unelected bureaucrats to issue regulation that has destroyed the liberty and lives of millions of Americans over the past 40 years with extremely petty matters. The court recognized that the power of an unelected administrative state was not permitted within the Constitution. So, the judiciary checked the legislative branch which exercised excessive power over the people. In a representative democracy, regulations must be passed by elected officials not by an army of bureaucrats that are detached from the voters. Of course, when states or individuals or non-government entities defy the Constitution they are held in check by state and local courts and ultimately, if need be, by the Supreme Court. But by and large our Founders wanted this kind of complex structure to guarantee that the American people remained free from the tyrannical rule. Of the two major candidates for President, Donald Trump favors a Constitutional Republic designed to keep a dictatorship or powerful corporate interests from power over the masses. Note that unlike the chart of Constitutional Republic, in Democratic Socialism shown below, power is concentrated in the executives with no checks and balances. This is a totalitarian schematic. It means that one person or group of persons have he power to dictate to everyone else anything the dictator desires. Note here there are no checks and balances to keep the man or woman at the top from becoming a dictator. So while Democrats are suggesting that Donald Trump is Hitler and that he will become a dictator, the Democratic Socialism form of government proposed by our Democrat party has no safe guards in place to protect against dictatorial action or to protect minority interests. How do we know that is the kind of government the Democrat party wants? We know by their actions! When they not only show hostility toward the Supreme Court but when our President actually disobeys the decision of that court regarding student loans, he as leader of the Democrat party is defying the Constitution. Senator Elizabeth Warren’s desire is clearly to effectively eliminate the Supreme Court when she urges fellow Democrats to pack it while Democrats have control of the Senate, thus rigging the Court so the legislature’s power is unchecked. When President Biden refuses to even try to execute the laws of the land as they pertain to immigration but actually gives the middle finger to the Constitution by encouraging more illegal immigration of people from around the world and then provide those same illegals with the right to vote in our elections, that is clearly a sign that the kind of government Democrats want is one that has no checks and balances. They apparently are planning to take monopoly control of the Country or they might think about how a system without checks and balances might work for them. So Democratic Socialism makes no allowances for excessive power from the Executive. Note there are no checks and balances to limit power from the top down, whether from a President or a figure head Presidency. There have been many figure-head-type dictatorships in the past. Communism under the USSR and China for example, have one person that is in the public view which gets cover from a media that must also puppet propaganda. This is exactly what our mainstream media in the U.S. and the West in general are doing now. For example, recall recent declarations from virtually all left leaning major media that President Biden was as fit as a fiddle to carry out his Presidential duties. We were told not to believe our lying eyes when we saw the President having difficulty walking or when he had trouble completing a thoughtful sentence. Even hours before the Trump-Biden debate, MSNBC’s Morning Joe and others were proclaiming President Biden’s utmost fitness for the Presidency. But when it was not possible even for strongly motivated Democrats to lie about the President’s health, the suppression of truth was suddenly exposed. Thus it shall be. The longer the lies and cover ups continue until to the point when Pinocchio’s nose can no longer be hidden, the more harm will be fall the lying party in power. For example, some very significant supporters of the Biden Administration have felt betrayed because of lies about the President’s health. Take Chamath Palihapitiya, a billionaire and strong supporter of President Biden until the recent Trump-Biden debate. The point of bringing this up is that a Democrat Socialist structure without checks and balances and which has taken control of the news media has nothing in place to restrain the person or interests at the top from deceiving and ultimately destroying the populace as a whole. Behind the curtain there are groups of ruthless power-seeking individuals including members of the media that are clandestinely propelling their own power interests as Morning Joe was doing in telling everyone not to beleive their lying eyes last week before the debate. But ultimately, when the lies are exposed, it’s game over for the interests at the top. The question then is whether a Constitutional Republic structure is reimposed or whether new lies are told to cover up past lies. I strongly suggest readers view this short video statement from Chamath Palihapitiya and David Sachs both of which have been supporters of the Democrat party. Chamath actually note that those who you thought were the strongest haters of Trump actually turned out not to hate him nearly as much as they were seeking to empower themselves. Chamath Palihapitiya - David Sachs Because of massive government interference in the lives of individuals under this structure, people in socialist systems are always and destined to suffer continuously lower living standards. This is something that many Americans, especially younger ones never learned from observing the economic disaster of the Soviet Union, Mao’s Communist China or closer to home in Venezuela. America Never Was Meant to be a Pure Democracy. It’s a Representative Republic. A story has been told many times of a short dialog Ben Franklin had as he was walking out of Independence Hall after the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Someone allegedly shouted, “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” To which Franklin supposedly responded: “A republic, if you can keep it.” While Democrats are busy equating Trump to Hitler, the Constitutional Republic structure bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers will constrain Trump from becoming a dictator contrary to much of the fear-mongering propaganda you hear every day on Democrat owned and operated propaganda channels. That’s even more likely if Trump is elected because the Democrat party can be counted on as a loyal opposition to Trump. At the same time, Republicans have not been nearly as strident against illicit actions from Democrats like the fraudulent claims against Donald Trump in the phony Russia Gate allegations which have proven to be false based on the lengthy Muller investigation. Admittedly the system is not working perfectly. If it were, Republicans and Democrats would be treated equally by our Justice department that would have its blindfolds on regarding party affiliation. Ex-CIA heads like James Clapper who lied under oath in Congress about the NSA spying on Americans, might spend some time in jail. And President Biden would obey the decisions of the Supreme Court on issues such as student loan payments and would faithfully execute the laws of the United States regarding immigration laws for example. But at least the structure is in place and if it were obeyed would help retain the freedom Americans have enjoyed from tyrannical government. Of course, to the extent Democrats wish to tear down the Constitutional Republic, and masses of Americans back them up in doing so, then they will get the revolution they have been working toward starting I would argue in a slow but steady pace ever since the 1912 election of the “progressive” Presidency of Woodrow Wilson in 1912. The Democratic Socialism chart shown above is in keeping with Elizabeth Warren’s recent call for the elimination of the Supreme Court and its role in the judiciary branch of government to keep the legislature of which Warren is a part in check. Eliminate the judiciary as Senator Warren wishes to do, eliminating one of the three-leg stool, and the Constitutional Republic topples over. At that point, there would then be no way to stop excessive power of the President or Congress. Perhaps that is what Senator Warren wants? I’m guessing that many people reading this are not aware that the word “democracy” never appears in the U.S. Constitution! That is because the Founding Fathers understood that a pure democracy without checks and balances as Democrats are now clamoring for would inevitably turn America into what the Founders termed a “Mobocracy.” Why so? Because if 51% of the population wants to murder the remaining 49%, in a pure democracy there is nothing to stop that from happening. Frustrating as the current structure might be for folks who want government to immediately “fix” things exactly as they desire, from time to time, the checks and balances written into our Constitution have worked in keeping excessive power from any of the three major branches of government, thus ensuring freedom and liberties willed for us by our Founders remain more or less intact. I agree it has not worked perfectly and tragically it sometimes takes far too much time for corrections of past wrongs to be set right. But at least for now, the structure is still in place to constrain excessive power grabbers, including “the Orange Man” from sending Americans to a gulag, provided actors in the three major branches of government comply with the Constitution. But sadly, when President Biden defies the Supreme court by paying student loans with your tax dollars and mine after the court has ruled against it, he is basically giving the middle finger to the Constitution. To the extent Americans are aware of the importance of the structure of our Constitutional Republic to ensure long lasting liberty for the American people, they will be more able to make an intelligent rather than an emotional voting decision. So, before you succumb to massive propaganda geared to get you to vote out of irrational and misguided fear rather than your rational mind, you will do well to know which party actually believes in our Constitution and which one is actually moving to put in place a form of government that favors totalitarian rule. One form of government constraints government power so people can remain free. The other streamlines government power from the top in the hands of a very small number of “elite” so that thy can own you as a slave. Our Founders knew that in the absence of heavy-handed government, Americans would be free and prosperous. All I’m asking is that you consider the repercussions of choosing Democratic Socialism (more in tune with the Democrat party) over a Constitutional Republic (more in tune with the Republican party) and that you know which of the two alternative forms of government the people you vote for line up with both at the top of the ticket all the way down to local races. Then vote accordingly. Disclaimer: Just to be clear, the Orange Man is not my favorite candidate. If RFK, Jr. appears on the ticket in New York, I will vote for him because in my view he is the Presidential candidate that most closely reflects the views consistent with our Constitutional Republic. RFK, Jr. is really a reflection of the Democrat party’s philosophy in the days of his murdered father, Attorney General Robert Kennedy and his murdered uncle President John F. Kennedy. RFK, Jr. is pretty sure he knows who took the lives of his father and uncle and if you are wondering why the American people are not allowed to hear his views in the mainstream media, those responsible for that are most likely not unrelated to those who took the lives of Robert Kennedy and John Kennedy. (Read “JFK and the Unspeakable” by James W. Douglass) No matter who prevails in the November elections, America is facing a heap of trouble because of rising levels of dishonesty, immorality and bankruptcy. Ultimately, the future of each and every one of us is in the hands of our Creator. That’s why I plan to soon publish an article titled “People of Faith See Things Differently.” The idea for that article is a result of a homily I recently listened to from Bishop Robert Barron, who is a well-known Bishop in the Catholic Church and who has a very large following on YouTube and social media in general.
