Musical chairs: A handful of buildings owned by the Orleans Parish School District are empty, and that could mean a round of school relocations, Marie Fazio reports. It has already been announced that the Homer Plessy Community School, now in the French Quarter, has to move out at the end of this academic year – a move that has prompted some blowback.
Closing schools? Speaking of schools, a consultant in Jefferson Parish will hold meetings starting later this week to help hash out a plan that could put some schools on the chopping block, Blake Paterson reports. Enrollment in Jefferson Parish public schools, like other districts across the region, is falling and that could mean some school consolidations.
