Is it finally broom time for Tigers?

The LSU baseball team will try to do something on the last day of the regular season Saturday it hasn't been able to do to this point of the entire campaign:

Sweep a series from an SEC opponent.

The Tigers put themselves in position to do just that Friday, following up Thursday's 5-1 victory with a tense 4-2 decision at Alex Box Stadium.

A sweep of the Rebels would likely enhance LSU's chances of earning an NCAA Tournament bid. The Tigers are 35-20 and 12-17 in the SEC going into Saturday's finale.

Our Koki Riley tells us when and how to watch Game 3, and our Michael Johnson has a photo gallery from Friday's action. Also, Koki has a story about a game the reigning College World Series champions will be playing in 2025 at the home of the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers.

While the baseball Tigers were clinching their series at The Box, just a couple of Tommy White tape-measure shots away at Tiger Park the LSU softball team was opening play in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with a 5-0 shutout of SWAC champion Jackson State. The story of the game was starting pitcher Raelin Chaffin, who held J-State to just two hits in the complete-game victory.

LSU plays at noon Saturday in the winner's bracket game against No. 3-seeded Southern Illinois, which upset No. 2 California 5-4 in Friday's first game.

LSU baseball alum Paul Skenes was the talk of major league baseball on Friday, throwing six no-hit innings for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Chicago Cubs to earn his first major league victory. In the process, he flirted with a major league record in just his second start.

LSU football recruiting for the 2024-25 cycle has been off to a really hot start, but the Tigers got doused with a bucket of cold water Friday with a decommitment from one of their top prospects.

The LSU women's golf team is out at La Costa resort just north of San Diego (why do bad things happen to good people?) competing in their NCAA Championships. See how the Tigers fared in the first round there.

The NCAA East track and field regional will have a huge LSU flavor to it when the Tigers head to Lexington, Kentucky, this weekend. A total of 42 LSU athetes, 21 from the No. 1-ranked women's team and 21 from the No. 5 men, qualified for the purple and gold.

Finally, Angel Reese just added something to her resume at LSU. Click here to find out what it is.

Surprisingly long list of LSU sports stories for the middle of May. But I know you can handle it. A lot better than the Cubs handled Skenes' 100 mph fastball.

Have a great sports weekend, folks, and we'll catch you on the flip side.
