Gas prices in Utah have some commuters turning to public transit
Utah Transit Authority's Free Fare February is over, but with gas prices rising, some Utahns are still opting for the cost savings of public transportation over the convenience of driving.
Depending on the distance, buses and trains can cost as little as $2.50 per trip, or $5 for a day pass.

The Beehive State’s total fertility rate has been falling faster than the nation’s since 2009. But is it about to stabilize?
What could be behind the decline? Some possible factors:
Utah has the fourth-highest total fertility rate nationally. Of those top four states, Utah has the lowest fertility rate for 15- to 19-year-olds, indicating a decline in teen births, which researchers point to as a positive trend.
Jessica Sanders, the University of Utah School of Medicine’s director of family planning research, said there has also been a reduction in unintended pregnancies in Utah.
More Americans are postponing their first marriage and growing numbers of adults ages 25 to 54 people are “unpartnered” — neither married nor living with a partner, according to a 2021 Pew Research Center analysis of 2019 census data.
