Dear John,

YES! Kindness is a leadership virtue and it might be the most impactful virtue of all when disruption agitates disagreement and dissension.

Imagine if two people, or two groups of people, are both turned upside down because of massive disruption. They have long standing disputes with each other and they are forced into finding a solution together. If both show up for open conversation seeking to uncover the truth and are demonstrating kindness, do you think this increases or decreases the chances for a good solution?

Of course the chances go up!

Here is better news. If only one side leads with and practices kindness, the chances for a good solution also go up. Bottom line is kindness is always the best way.

You can learn more about kindness and how to demonstrate it so that others see and feel it in my new book 10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times.
