Jeff Landry took office may leave the state with limited options on the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion, a $3 billion project to funnel Mississippi River water and sediment into the Barataria Basin to rebuild wetlands. Staff writer Mike Smith notes that federal officials have warned the Landry administration that it must return the funds already spent on the project if it does not follow through with the work as initially planned.
