Good morning, and welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. It's not a very fun time to go to work over at 5800 Airline Drive, and in at least one person's opinion, there may not be a lot of fun days ahead. Let's get after it. Bleak outlookColumnist Jeff Duncan has seen enough. Last week's miserable loss to the Atlanta Falcons was the final nail in the coffin. Sure, there's still a decent chance the Saints secure a playoff spot before this season is said and done, but what is that really accomplishing? I'll let Duncan's words stand for themselves here: "Fans are fed up. Or worse, apathetic. And rightfully so. New Orleans knows a fraud when it sees one. "The Saints keep saying they’re about to turn the corner, but we all know this team is headed down a dead-end road and has been for a while now." In other disheartening news...If you're looking for a recipe to fix what ails the Saints offensively, it certainly doesn't include playing a game without your top three wide receivers, but that appears to be the direction the Saints are heading this week against the Detroit Lions. Here's the latest on where the Saints stand after injuries to Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed last Sunday. It's not good. Programming noteMake sure you tune into the Saints Insider podcast this week for what promises to be a lively discussion about this consistently disappointing Saints season. We'll have two shows coming for you this week, on Wednesday and Friday. If you're not subscribed yet, it is is available to watch any time at the Saints on NOLA.com YouTube channel and also audio-only on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
