Brands Are Finding Deepfakes Increasingly Appealing for Ad Campaigns

Hi there,

Happy Monday!

As the Covid-19 pandemic spread, video production became difficult. If not impossible, as states put into place stay-at-home orders.

In response, even more brands began experimenting more than ever before with deepfake fabricated footage.

Hulu used it to superimpose athletes' faces on various bodies; Spotify created a digital listening experience; Agencies like Deutsch L.A. and Mischief in New York  are also trying to get in on the game.

As my colleague Patrick Kulp wrote: "though certain deepfake methods may not always be cost-effective in times where full-scale production is possible, the pace of research in the field suggests it will become easier and more accessible in the future." Read his full story.

In case you missed it, here are popular stories from our desk last week:

Fun Fact: 47% of Hinge users felt anxious or nervous before asking a match on an in-person or virtual date, according to the company's research.

Need a break? Consider the possibility of curling up next to loved ones during the holidays to watch Pixar's newest movie.
