Is Your Planter Ready to Roll? Use this Checklist to Be Sure
 
Missy Bauer, Farm Journal field agronomist, says some common planting mistakes can be fixed before the planter hits the field. She walks through key checkpoints as part of a 10-point planter inspection.
 
 

Certain planter parts wear and need annual inspection, adjustment or replacement. Most folks know to check disk openers, gauge wheels and other soil-contacting components. Here are some less obvious problems.

 
 

USDA’s Ag Outlook Forum pointed to a 3% increase in total planted acres of corn, soybeans and wheat, which signals stocks will grow in 2023. Market analysts say traders might be shifting their focus to new crop.

 
 

“One of the more humbling statistics is we've been able to at least save six lives as part of this program,” says Laramie Sandquist with Nationwide. “We actually just had a recent save in Delaware, which used these tubes.”
