CMS to share QAPI Written Plan How-To Guide, updates on improving dementia care, March 21

 

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will share information about the new QAPI Written Plan How-To Guide that can assist long-term care providers with performance improvement efforts during the agency’s National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care and QAPI Call Tuesday, March 21, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM ET. Additionally, CMS experts will share:

 

Document released explaining how DOJ evaluates corporate compliance programs

 

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) released a document on February 8 in order to increase transparency and provide guidance regarding the agency’s process for investigations of corporate compliance programs in the context of a criminal investigation.

 

CMS publishes overview of quality improvement and quality measurement

Trump administration grows: Verma confirmed to head CMS

 

Seema Verma has been confirmed by the Senate to head the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), with a 55-43 vote. Verma is known for her work as former owner of a healthcare consulting firm in Indiana, SVC, Inc., specializing in Medicaid reform at the state level. She worked with Vice President Mike Pence to create Indiana’s Medicaid program, the nation’s first consumer-directed Medicaid program.

Longer periods of hospice associated with lower healthcare costs

 

A study published in the February 2017 issue of Health Affairs found that increased use of hospice care can reduce healthcare spending in areas of the U.S. with high medical costs.
