Iranian state TV has reported that residential areas in the capital, Tehran, were hit and children are among those killed. Israel's military says Iran has since fired about 100 drones towards its territory, many of which were intercepted. US President Donald Trump has said he was aware of Israel’s plans beforehand, but reiterated the US was not involved. But a spokesperson for Iran's armed forces said both the US and Israel will pay a "heavy price". Israel has taken a huge gamble, writes our security correspondent Frank Gardner. |
