| | | | KEY FIGURE OF THE DAY: 1824 | Michael Matthews won the 14th stage of the 2022 Tour de France in Mende, the fourth success of his career in the event, 1,824 days after his third stage win on 18 July 2017 in Romans-sur-Isère. Since that date, the Australian had accumulated 19 top 10 stage finishes, including 4 second places: in Epernay on stage 3 of the 2019 edition (won by Julian Alaphilippe), in Landerneau on stage 1 of the 2021 edition (won by Julian Alaphilippe), in Longwy on stage 6 (won by Tadej Pogacar) and in Lausanne on stage 8 (won by Wout van Aert) this year. Over this period, only one rider has accumulated more top 10 finishes without winning: Jasper Stuyven (21).
