It’s been an incredible year for Cancer Grand Challenges. From announcing 4 new funded teams, to our first Future Leaders Conference in Barcelona and opening the round 4 challenge consultation, with 8 workshops in 5 countries.

4 new teams awarded $100m

At our 2022 Summit, we announced 4 new teams receiving $100m worth of funding to take on cancer’s toughest challenges. These were the first teams to be funded through our partnership with Cancer Research UK and the National Cancer Institute in the US.

Round 4 consultation
In October, we launched a global campaign to identify a new set of challenges. Over 300 ideas were submitted by researchers, clinicians, patient advocates and supporters. The final set of challenges will be announced in March 2023 at our annual Summit. Our Head of Research, Sheona Scales, talks about the importance of the consultation process.

Putting patients at the heart of our work

It’s imperative that the work we do translates into tangible impact for people affected by cancer across the globe. We work with patient advocates across all our funded teams and are guided by our Advocacy Panel.
