The Post's Cards for Kindness campaign is giving people the chance to reach out to those in care homes who may be feeling isolated during the coronavirus pandemic, writing messages to encourage the elderly to reminisce on their past.

As we prepare to come out of lockdown and straight into Tier 3 restrictions, it seems every festive tradition has a slightly new take on it this year. School nativities can only be done in existing school ’bubbles’; Carol singers will be allowed - but only in groups of six and they must stay at least 2m from doorsteps - and Santa’s Grottos are allowed but social distancing must be observed. So sitting on Santa’s knee is unlikely. In a sense, we have got used to playing by the rules. It’s been critical to keep the most vulnerable in our society safe. So if Santa has to keep a safe distance, that may be a price we have to pay, after all, he’s not getting any younger. But there are some things about the festive season which can remain the same. Trees and house decorations, filling ourselves with sweets and of course, sitting down to watch your favourite festive film. So let’s start a bit of a debate ... Home Alone, Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life are in the top five, along with Die Hard, which is not a Christmas film. Or is it? Over to you!
