The big weekend is here! Our 2024 Gala celebrations are taking place this bank holiday weekend and we cannot wait to see you there. 😀 With 2 visiting engines, workshop tours, 'driver for a donation' and visits to the old BR Signal Box, there is plenty planned to keep you busy 🚂 The gala also combines with the launch of the RERPS Volunteer Hub, with behind the scenes tours, volunteer information and the chance to meet and chat with current volunteers! | What's Included Over The Weekend? | 'Driver for a donation'– Fancy yourself as a steam loco driver? Have a go at driving one of our locomotives outside the workshop! FREE Museum entry - Explore the history of our railway by taking a look around the museum and making the trip up to the old British Railway signal box. | Murthwaite Shuttle– Take a trip to Murthwaite Yard for a track laying demonstration and for the opportunity to watch locos steam by from a new location! (Sat & Sun only) Miniature Railway rides – enjoy rides outside the workshop behind 7 & a 1/4 inch locos, courtesy of Stuart Harrison. | A Gala weekend always brings out some excellent and rare opportunities to ride behind unique locos. This weekend is no different, with our flagship engines in steam, the return of Katie and Synolda to traffic, as well as our two visiting engines, St. Egwin and Mr Hallworth! Take a look at the proposed loco rosters for each day below. | Get To Know The Visiting Engines | Built in Darlington, Mr Hallworth was only built in 2023 and has completed less than 100 miles out on track! Having only recently been completed, Mr Hallworth is making his first visit away from Perrygrove Railway Adventure in the Wye Valley. | Another young loco, particularly in comparison to the Ravenglass natives, St. Egwin was built in 2003! Operating at the Valley Railway Adventure, St. Egwin may be shorter in stature than Mr Hallworth but is sure to be a fan favourite when out on 'La'al Ratty'! | Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Ravenglass, Cumbria, CA18 1SW 01229 717171
