It's game day: LSU at Alabama

The ancient grudge has come round again.

LSU. Alabama.

This one really has everything.

College Game Day is here in Tuscaloosa.

So is CBS, televising LSU-Alabama in prime time one last time before the network's long contract with the SEC ends.

Alabama is trying to stay alive for the College Football Playoff and win the SEC West.

Jayden Daniels is trying to cover himself in the glory of being the Heisman frontrunner with just over a month to go until the great old prize is awarded. And win the SEC West.

Then there are underlying questions, like with the SEC needing to form a new long-term scheduling format, will this be Nick Saban's last home game against his old school at Bryant-Denny Stadium?

It promises to be quite a day, culminating with a 6:45 p.m. kickoff.

LSU will be trying to win for a second year in a row and a third time in five years against Alabama. Will Game Day being here prove to be a good omen for the Tigers or bad? We look at the Game Day games over the years.

LSU-Bama is the biggest SEC game this week, but not the only one. We look at the five big topics of this first Saturday of November in the league.

Spencer Urquhart stops by to give us his college football picks for the weekend.

And, finally, in case you missed it in Thursday's LSU newsletter, here's a link to Wilson Alexander's excellent feature on what has made Daniels a Heisman contender.

Thanks for reading and subscribing. We're here bringing you LSU sports coverage every single day, so don't miss a moment.

Enjoy game day. Save us some dips and chips.
