Good morning from Orlando, where our LSU coverage team has set up camp in advance of the Tigers' game Saturday at Florida. Can LSU (6-3, 3-2 SEC) snap its two-game skid and beat the Gators (4-5, 2-4) for a record-extending sixth straight time? Or will the Tigers' troubles continue? We'll all find out when the game kicks off from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville at 2:30 p.m. CST on ABC. LSU needs several fixes to get back on the winning track, one of them better blocking along the offensive line. Better blocking means better reacting to movement from opposing defenses, as our Wilson Alexander describes in his main preview of Saturday's game. In my game day column, I wrote that should the Tigers show pride and fight in their effort against the Gators, there is still much for LSU to play for. How much? How about a reasonable path to a berth in the SEC Championship Game, which could of course lead to a title and an automatic berth in the new 12-team College Football Playoff. It's a typically busy Friday of stories to catch you up on, so let's do a two-minute drill through the rest: - Who have you got winning the LSU-Florida game? Our LSU beat team shares its picks here.
- Our Gabe Henderson is back with his weekly take on the nation's top five games in college football.
- The LSU women's basketball team struggled for most of the game Friday with pesky Murray State, but in the end the result was a familiar one.
- LSU women's basketball legend Sylvia Fowles is heading for the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Surely it won't be long before she joins current LSU assistant coach and former teammate Seimone Augustus in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
- The LSU men's basketball team is coming off a big upset win Thursday night at Kansas State. The reason the Tigers were able to pull it off? Defense, says our new LSU hoops beat writer, TJ Brown.
- Finally, LSU gymnast and social media star Olivia Dunne has an offer baseball fans can't refuse. It ties in to the search for a very special rookie card for her boyfriend, former LSU and now Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes.
