Our November pick keeps you on the edge of your seat
Ecco π Hello readers!π Okay first things first: This is coming to you late. I'm sorry! Been a rough few weeks (/months/year/etc.) but you know what? It's about to get a little better. We're so excited to start David Heska Wanbli Weiden's debut thriller Winter Counts next week as our November selection. Winter Counts follows Virgil Wounded Horse, a man hired to deliver punishment on the Rosebud Indian Reservation when the American judicial system or tribal council comes up short. When his nephew Nathan β the son of his beloved late sister β ODs on heroin laced with fentanyl, he sets off on a mission to find the man responsible, with the unexpected help of his ex-girlfriend. They find themselves in the midst of a complicated web of drug cartels, uncovering a dangerous world of money, power, and violence with far-reaching ramifications. Itβs dark but also funny; violent, but poignant. It's an absolutely riveting page-turner, compelling not only for the mystery at its core, but also for its piercing criticism of US (mis)treatment of Native populations. A great way to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month. I hope you'll read along! Check out an excerpt here. β€οΈ π Arianna Giveaway To celebrate, we've got some (US-only) giveaways: Ecco is offering 10 copies with signed bookplates, and Libro.fm is offering 5 free audiobook downloads.
