Dear John,
It's hard to believe I’ve been here for almost 29 years! When other people might have changed jobs, I’ve had the good fortune to be able to reinvent myself and the work that I’m doing. Hi, I’m Diane Houdek, OFS, content director for Franciscan Media.
I think about being on both sides of St. Francis’ final words: “I have done what is mine to do. May Christ show you what is yours.” Sometimes I feel like the keeper of our history as a company over the last three tumultuous decades—changing technologies, changing personnel, a changing world. Franciscan Media is like a family, with all the ups and downs, gains and losses, celebrating and grieving of any family. But what holds us together is the love, compassion, and patience that Francis tried to instill in his first followers. Working at Franciscan Media was the beginning of my discovery that I had a vocation as a Secular Franciscan. Together we learn to live and share the message of Francis in an often messy world.
What keeps me here is the innovation that has pushed us to reach people all over the world with rich content in whatever medium is most accessible and offer our materials to everyone without counting the cost. Someone’s spiritual needs will always have priority over their ability to pay. I think St. Francis would approve!
Will you now join me? Franciscan Media needs your help bringing Christ to one another. Our 128-year missionary work is only made possible with your financial assistance.
This summer, our goal is to raise $80,000 dollars. Like it affected so many people, 2020 impacted Franciscan Media. For example, paper, production, and postage costs increased significantly and now impact what we print and publish. It is a formidable goal, but more than ever, people need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis. Please help.
Help me continue to produce inspiration resources. Together let us join with St. Francis, “I have done what is mine to do. May Christ now show you now what is yours.”
