In recent weeks, student-led demonstrations over the Israel-Hamas war have flared up on college campuses across the country. Now, students are taking their protests to graduation ceremonies. Over the weekend, dozens of students at the University of Michigan, Indiana University, and Ohio State University waved Palestinian flags, donned keffiyehs, and chanted anti-war slogans at the schools’ commencement ceremonies. It comes as clashes between protesters and police have continued across campuses, with one university taking on new safety measures. Meanwhile, cease-fire talks in the war appear to have stalled.

The latest round of negotiations reached an impasse after Israel and Hamas couldn’t reach an agreement over the duration of a cease-fire. Hamas called for a permanent end to the fighting, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas was making unacceptable demands. While Netanyahu has said he’s open to a deal to pause the fighting and bring hostages home, Israel ordered an evacuation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah this morning. An invasion of the city, which is a key entry point for aid, could further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

It’s been nearly seven months since the start of the Israel-Hamas war and pressure is mounting to bring it to an end. American college students are at the forefront of that effort, now taking their anti-war demonstrations to graduation ceremonies.
Texas. Over the weekend, flood warnings were in effect for more than 2 million people in the state, with the Houston area seeing a bulk of the rain and water rescues. Authorities said a young boy died Sunday after being swept away by floodwaters. At least 224 people and more than a hundred pets have been rescued after heavy rains hit parts of the state. Forecasters said once the storms pass, the rivers could remain swollen for days or weeks.

Space. Tonight, Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft is set to launch from Florida with two NASA astronauts. After years of delays, this will be the Starliner’s first crewed flight as it travels to the International Space Station for a week-long stay. The main goal of the mission is to see how the Starliner holds up. A successful flight could bring some relief to Boeing, which has been embroiled in controversy over its airplane manufacturing process.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Over the weekend, the two stars made their first appearances on the WNBA courts as the preseason begins. Clark scored 21 points for the Indiana Fever in a sold-out game, while Reese scored 13 points for the Chicago Sky. Neither took home the W.
