We all know that I need no excuse to drink a cold one with friends, but today, I have doubly no excuse!

Not only will we be hosting our inaugural Freedom on Tap in our very own Studio B Bar, but we will be doing so on National Beer Day! Yup, that’s actually a thing!

National Beer Day celebrates the 1933 Cullen-Harrison Act which overturned the no fun, Puritanical, and Progressive 18thAmendment. That’s right, Progressives have been ruining fun for hundreds of years now.

Independence Institute is committed to the notion that living in the tempestuous sea of liberty is more desirable than the calm despotism of heavy-handed government, as the Thomas Jefferson statue in front of the Freedom Embassy suggests.

While he was a member of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, John Adams would have a beer with breakfast, just like me! George Washington operated a whiskey still, consuming and selling his own product. When Congress tried to increase taxes on all distilled spirits, the farmers rebelled in what is today known as the Whiskey Rebellion.

Alcohol and the spirit of American defiance and rugged individualism go hand in hand. So on this National Beer Day, raise a cold one with me in my favorite bar, Studio B, at Independence Institute’s Freedom Embassy!

Technical stuff:

  • If you want to “video in” live and talk with us, and I hope you do, you MUST be connected via Zoom and you MUST have a drink in your hand.
  • If you don’t want to be on video with us live, any format will work just to watch, and you MUST have a drink in your hand.
  • If you don’t want to join us at all, well, then you’re just drinking alone. And that’s just sad.

Drink Freedom,

Jon
