One other critically important point for all investors, not just younger ones. If your employer offers a Section 401(k) retirement plan, the employee must assure that he or she contributes enough of their salary each year to obtain any employer match for their contribution, writes Mark Altieri, who holds the Certified Financial Planner certification from the CFP Board of Standards and the Personal Financial Specialist designation from the American Institute of CPAs. He is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at Kent State University, and special tax counsel to the law firm of Wickens, Herzer and Panza in Avon, Ohio.
