  In a private ceremony, Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. and retired Justice Anthony Kennedy swore in Brett Kavanaugh as an associate Supreme Court justice, marking the beginning of his lifetime appointment to America’s top court. The Senate voted 50-48 Saturday to confirm Kavanaugh’s nomination, solidifying conservative control of the court. The confirmation delivered a major win to President Donald Trump, who had defended his embattled nominee when sexual assault accusations were leveled against him. Kavanaugh has denied the accusations.
