'It's really depressing': How consumers are grappling with inflation and wondering when it will end

Inflation is taking a heavy toll on many middle-class families in Acadiana and just about everywhere across the country. The rising costs of essential items has eaten away at many household incomes, leaving many to shop at dollar stores, goodwill stores or other discount locations to save money. “It’s really depressing, and I try not to dwell too much on it,” one 25-year-old Lafayette woman.

Relief from inflation is not expected to end anytime soon, an economist said.
