It's time for the Big Weekend of Books! |
|
The Big Weekend of Books is finally upon us!
Taking place on June 15 and 16, this on-air writers' festival gives ABC listeners a chance to take a break from some of the awful news around the world and focus instead on some wholesome, informative and scintillating chats about all things literary.
You can find the full schedule here, but just to give a taster of what's to come over the weekend, Tim Winton, Candice Fox and Tony Birch will discuss their very varied writing processes, while Richard Osman (Thursday Murder Club), Dervla McTiernan (The Ruin), Amos Towles (A Gentleman in Moscow) and Paul Murray (The Bee Sting) will share their experiences of being in the literary spotlight.
Stephanie Alexander will reflect on her years of writing and serving up all things food, Charlotte Wood and Jock Serong will talk about the importance of telling and owning our personal stories, and Hugo Williams will dive into why he finds poetry such a powerful form of writing.
This year, the RN digital team will also be live-blogging the event across both days. You can find the live blogs running on the ABC news website from 10am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Our book-loving bloggers will showcase highlights from the festival interviews, look back at some historical articles and recorded chats, and feature bonus content that can only be found on the blog.
Part of the joy of the live blog is that we get to engage with our audience in real time, so please pop in and say hello, tell us where you're tuning in from, let us know what you are enjoying, and even share your book recommendations!
So, settle in with a cuppa, find a cosy spot in the sunshine and get ready to expand your mind with some of the finest writers in Australia and beyond. |
