The numbers of the Italian Brass Week 2019

 

A real numerical pyramid marked the extraordinary success of the 20th edition of the International Festival Italian Brass Week that took place in Florence, Fiesole and Vinci between the past July 21 and July 28. Here are the numbers, top down:

 

1 dynamic Artistic Director, M° Luca Benucci, first horn of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, professor at the Music School of Fiesole and the state Conservatory of Music ‘C. Monteverdi’ of Bolzano.

2 world première ‘ The Great Leap' by Francesco Traversi for the opening night called Lunar Love at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theatre, a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission moon landing and ‘500 Brass in parade…in Leonardo’s footsteps’, also entrusted to the pen and creativity of the composer Francesco Traversi – already winner of a gold medal for composing at the San Diego Global Awards – to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci.

2 radio and television broadcasts  - Rai Radio 3, this year’s media partner for the whole Festival, with Oreste Bossini and Rete Toscana Classica ‘Musical Chronicles’ with Luca Berni. 

3 national dailies that echoed the Festival: La Repubblica, il Corriere della Sera-Corriere Fiorentino, La Nazione;

6 institutions gave their patronage to the Festival : Florence City, Vinci City, Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany Region, Apulian Region, Unione Europea Piiil Cultura (strategic plan for culture of the Apulian Region)

7 Italian and international institutions: Agenzia spaziale italiana (Italian Space Agency), Canada Embassy in Rome, Denmark Embassy in Rome, Denmark Consulate in Florence, Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Rome, Kingdom of the Netherlands Consulate in Florence, General Consulate of the United States of America in Florence.

14 top-level companies of the city that collaborated to the setting up of the master classes and the nigh concerts from the Friends of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theatre, to the Opera per Santa Maria Novella, Buoneria, Fiat 500 Club Italia, A.Gi.Mus Florence, the Student Hotel, Toschi Pastry shop, Probios, St. Regis, Villani’s butchery, Rangers, Querceto’s Castle, Westin Excelsior Florence, Get Lucky Florence

Monteverdi’ Conservatoryof Music in Bolzano, Eric Terwilliger from the Bayerische Rundkunks Symphonieorchester, Arkady Shilkloper, Giovanni Hoffer and Zoltán Kiss, international soloists, Omar Tomasoni from the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rubén Simeó, Andrea Tofanelli and Rex Richardson, international soloists, Andrea dell’Ira, Claudio Quintavalla and Emanuele Antoniucci from the trumpet section of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, Peter Moore from the London Symphony Orchestra, Antonio Sicoli, first part of the Rome Opera, the Brass Legend Roger Bobo, founder of the Festival, Daniele Perantoni, international soloist, Jens Bjørn Larsen from the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Mario Barsotti from Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. 

37 countries of the world reunited in Florence, 5 continents of our planet united in the flory city : Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Iran, Israel, Turkey, Switzerland, Spain, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Cuba, Argentina, USA, Ireland, England, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Slovenia, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, China, Taiwan

more than 8000 spectators of the events on site, in the different stops of the Festival, in town and at Vinci

350.000 people reached and interacting with the posts on Facebook and with the Facebook live streaming on the Italian Brass Week page.  

This was the pyramid of the new and great Florentine edition of the Festival that registered “sold out” for every concert and in every splendid scenery of the city.  The pillars of the event were high professional profile performances and shows, creative intelligence, emotions, sensations, projects and the sharing of musical choices between the artistic Direction and the staff.  

We give you appointment in 2020 for a new edition even more authentic and spectacular, both didactically and musically.
