INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2022

Today the world comes together for International Women's Day to celebrate women's achievements - but the day also marks a strong global call to action: To tackle still existing discrimination, to forge an equal future. In most regions of the world, women make up the majority of the tourism workforce but tend to be concentrated in the lowest paid, lowest status jobs and perform a large amount of unpaid work in family tourism businesses.

We need inclusive work cultures where women's careers thrive; accordingly, this year’s theme is #BreakTheBias! Greater equality is an imperative part of sustainable tourism.

ITB BERLIN CONVENTION 2022 | 8 MARCH 2022

Don't miss the following highlights of the Future & Resilience track

ITB Deep Dive: Global Tourism Demand Forecast: Statista@ITB Travel & Tourism 2022.
You should not miss the speech of Peter Kautz, MD at Statista Q! He will be explaining exclusive market research data on travel behavior in key global markets live from the studio in Berlin today at 10:10 am - 10:40 am. Presenting travel demand forecasts 2022, customer needs and demand trends after COVID-19 and the importance of sustainability and digitalization from the customer's perspective.

From Covid to Climate Crisis and Ukraine, Are Policies in Place to Minimize Crises’ Impact on Travel and Tourism?
Destinations and the worldwide travel industry must make tourism resilience planning part of doing business. It is not enough to react to crises, instead identify what can be done in advance to minimize impact on lives and livelihoods. The keynote discussion with WTTC’s Julia Simpson and the Ministerial Roundtable led by Monika Jones illuminate action and needs to be addressed. Ministers from Jamaica, Greece and Philippines provide concrete actions in tourism resilience: 12:00 - 12:50 pm

Post Corona - the paving way for new hotel concepts
The new dimensions of luxury are on the rise: individualized and personalized concepts, the special emphasis on security, space and time and, above all, exclusivity, and the pursuit of concepts beyond the ordinary to sensual luxury and spiritual luxury. Rarely have the times been so interesting to introduce new hotel and tourism concepts to a market hungry for travel and indulgence. Don't miss Marc Aeberhard, Founder & Owner, Luxury Hotel & Spa Management Ldt. discussing this topic with his panel guests at 5:00 - 5:50 pm.

ITB TRAVEL HERO PODCAST - WHAT'S NEW

▶ “What is a green Butler?” Podcast

Meet My Green Butler in our most recent ITB Travel Hero Podcast! What is a "green butler"? An easy-to-use sustainability management platform that uses gamification and eco-feedback to persuade guests, staff and tourist accommodation owners to effectively reduce carbon emission through conserving energy & water & cutting waste. That sounds interesting, doesn’t it? And it’s fit for business: As a cloud-based SMART tech solution with science-based results, it monitors multiple resource types, audits carbon and records financial savings in real-time.
The amazing part is that everyone is involved: Guests and staff enjoy being involved and are highly motivated to help conserving resources - it’s actually their behavior which is in the center of this sustainable hospitality management tool. Learn more about the story behind it when our CSR Commissioner Rika Jean-Francois chats with Dr. Christopher Warren, Founder & CEO of My Green Butler

▶ “300 seconds with” Podcast with Simone Jacke: Do the meanings of luxury and authenticity contradict or even complement each other?

Especially in the context of running a boutique hotel in a small, down-to-earth ‘’off the beaten track” South African fishing village.
We asked Simone Jacke, who runs just such a concept with her boutique hotel in Paternoster, about it.
How do you see it? Are the terms rather contradictory or do they complement each other?
