Last fall, video software provider, Synamedia, and program guide, metadata management and data broadcasting company, Triveni Digital, announced a partnership to facilitate broadcasters’, content providers’ and service providers’ transition to the new ATSC 3.0 standard—a transition that will require that ATSC 3.0 solutions support simultaneous broadcasts of both ATSC 3.0 and ATSC 1.0 signals. According to the companies, Triveni’s Digital Broadcast Chain will provide architectural support on a unified platform for a coherent workflow across both services, while Synamedia’s compression technology and other solutions will allow broadcasters to repack existing ATSC 1.0 and free up the bandwidth needed to launch new ATSC 3.0 services. The companies also revealed that they had jointly secured a deployment with a “major US television production company.”

In this recorded interview with ITVT Editor-in-Chief, Tracy Swedlow, Sabine Bravo, VP of Business Development at Synamedia, and Triveni Digital President and CEO, Mark Simpson, discuss the companies’ integrated offering—which they will be showcasting at CES next week—and share their insights on the transition to ATSC 3.0 and other industry developments.
