INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2022

Every year on 8th of March, Skateistan celebrates International Women's Day in our Skate Schools around the world. Through our programs, and with our focus on inclusion, we provide a safe space where girls can express themselves and follow their dreams. Getting girls on skateboards has been a priority since day one at Skateistan and we work hard to ensure that 50% of Skateistan students are girls.

International Women’s Day is just one day. But by joining the Citizens of Skateistan, you can make a difference to the lives of girls every day of the year.

To celebrate International Women's Day, skate photographer Sara Parson Terras (IG: @parson_texas) visited Skateistan in Atlantis, an expansion from our base in Johannesburg. Girls-only sessions are an important tool to ensure we're reaching 50% girls in our programs. Vans South Africa team skater, Melissa Williams (IG: @suzysnakes), joined the session to inspire the next generation of female skaters in South Africa.
