Jack Montoucet's contracts drew red flags early

Montoucet scandal: Former Wildlife and Fisheries chief Jack Montoucet's handling of contracts central to a bribery scandal in his department drew protests long before his role in that scandal became fully known, Sam Karlin reports. Here's the latest on that scandal. 


Carbon capture: The Environmental Protection Agency began taking public comment Friday on a plan to let Louisiana regulate carbon capture injection wells, which have been touted as a way to combat climate change, Mark Ballard reports. The wells are controversial, however, as many residents question their safety and effect on the environment. 


AG race: The four candidates for state Attorney General agreed in a forum last week that crime is Louisiana's No. 1 problem, Tyler Bridges reports. Liz Murrill added that she takes a gun to New Orleans every time she visits, since the city, in her view, has grown dangerous.
