Jazz meets comedy with Tom Seals and James Acaster at
 St Martin-in-the-Fields

Here's something to liven up these last dismal dregs of winter: an evening of big band standards and belly laughs at one of London's finest neoclassical churches.

On Saturday 5 March, jazz legend Tom Seals is joined by his 12-piece big band andvery special guest James Acaster at St Martin-in-the-Fields (that lovely building with the large spire in the north east corner of Trafalgar Square).

Following the success of Sky TV's Tom Seal Presents, this live version sees stand-up extraordinaire and master of whimsy Acaster reveal his favourite songs, with Tom and his band performing them live on stage. The Jazz World's Rising Star

Hailed as "an extraordinary young talent" by none other than Jools Holland, Tom Seals is a pianist, vocalist, and presenter of Sky TV's Tom Seals Presents — a musical chat show where celebrity guests share their favourite tunes, which Tom and band then perform alongside big band classics. The St Martin's event is a live version of Tom's show; expect foot-tapping jazz and jokes aplenty.

An Unconventional King Of Comedy

This time, Tom is joined by the one and only James Acaster, who you'll know from his acclaimed Netflix specials, countless panel show appearances, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe sets. Newer fans, however, might not know about his musical obsession (he was once in a band called the Capri-Sun Quartet), which he'll be chatting about on the night with Tom.

In A Rather Spectacular Venue

The whole thing takes place in St Martin-in-the-Fields, a working church and central London landmark. The interiors are simply exquisite — think ornate plasterwork, Corinthian columns and low-hanging chandeliers. Look out for the church's famous warped window while you're there, or pop down early for a pre-show snack in the atmospheric Café in the Crypt.
