Shelters hit record numbers!
Frigid weather continues to be the dominating news story across our communities in Middle Tennessee. The faces and wounds of our homeless tell the heart-wrenching stories of trying to endure freezing temperatures under bridges, in tents and makeshift shelters. So far, we’ve seen 14 straight days of shelter. During single digit days, both shelters hit record numbers! Our normal high is 12 women and 35 men. On one particularly cold day, we reached a record number of 25 women and 45 men in shelters. With the increased number of homeless we are serving, our needs are increasing as well. For example, we have already spent over $500 on laundry this season, compared to $200 at this time last year.
Should you desire to help, our needs include cleaning supplies, twin size wool-type blankets, and laundry supplies (rolls of quarters and laundry detergent). Most of these items are economical and readily available at Walmart.
If you prefer to give a monetary gift, donations can be made either by visiting our website and or clicking on the donate tab, or by sending a check, payable to

We are now at the halfway mark of providing winter shelter, and your response to our needs has helped us get through this long stretch of extremely cold weather. Please keep us in your prayers, and please consider us for monthly support. Good Samaritans like you enable us to deliver life-saving services to our homeless population. We never get tired of saying thanks, and we hope you never get tired of hearing it.
