...cold and flu season. Temperatures were well above freezing on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There was little danger of anyone freezing, but loneliness, depression, and memories of being with family are all powerful emotions that come with this time of year. Opening the shelters enabled us to provide emotional and physical support that our guests needed as they dealt with these mounting difficulties. This was our way of being a family and home to those who had none during the holidays. With the Christmas holidays now behind us, we now turn our attention to cold and flu season. This week we placed extra emphasis on getting our sheets, blankets and towels washed. Also, we provided additional cleaning of the facilities to help insure a sanitized environment for our guests as they return. Thank you for supplying many needed items on our previous list. However, the following items are still needed: Hand sanitizer Hand soap Lysol for cleaning floors **Two good running vacuum cleaners (new or used) Quarters for laundry service to clean sheets and blankets Volunteers to serve on our laundry or cleaning crew If you are interested in volunteering to help clean facilities or wash and fold sheet and blankets, please call Ed at (615) 605-1705. So many of you are praying for the MRM ministry and our success in getting a place to build a shelter. Please continue as that becomes our focus this year. |
