But like an addict, they found their way back into my routine. It's like the OREOS in the hotel mini-bar. I don't eat oreos because I don't have them around. Probably related to the orange monster and what it may have done to AMERICA or the world that day. During the APOLLO 11 mission, the heart rates of the astronauts were tracked at crucial moments. NEIL ARMSTRONG’s heart rate was 110 bpm. MICHAEL COLLINS was at 99 bpm, and BUZZ ALDRIN was at 88 bpm. Put me on TWITTER and my heart rate goes from 68 bpm to 120 bpm. And I'm not flying around the moon for the first time at 25,000 miles per hour. I need to get my face out of a screen and outside. With people. Living. My sister and brother-in-law run one of the best media market research firms in the world. Their names are LILY, ROBBIE, and AMELIE. Together they educate me on the future of media better than any analyst, journalist, executive, or pundit. Maybe even better than the great MATTHEW BALL. Nothing better to cut through it all. I'm all in on experiences. Especially those where we can share a moment with others. Look them in the eye. We all may be different. We all don't see the world the same way. But we do have so many common interests and loves. Music. Movies. Good public works. Watching an eclipse. Going to Disney World. Escape Rooms. And more. We could make an infinite list together. Things that take us into the real world even if they emanate online. AIRBNB gets it. PEEK gets it. I was catching up with my pal ANDY WEISSMAN last month and he was telling me about one of his investments at UNION SQUARE VENTURES. SOFAR. What do I need more of? Experiences. I'm long on experiences and the companies that create them. Especially the ones that drive you from online to the real world. Amelicious is wise beyond her years.
