I think Joffrey is now the king in America and he's grown up just as petulant and irrational as he was when he was 13 in the books.

rantnrave:// My taste in video entertainment tends to be dark. I like my intrigue and dystopia. A good thriller. The suspense. Since the election, I've had a hard time getting through my queue. I have to be in the right mood. Sort of the same anxiety that LARRY DAVID would give me on CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. When the doctor doesn't want him to use the phone . Oh, my god. I could barely take it. And yet I love it. Depends on my mood. FARGO. BLACK MIRROR. HANDMAID'S TALE, THE WALKING DEAD. I worship them all, but harder to power through lately. I need comedy. Creators should go deep on comedy. I need a TODD PHILLIPS / JUDD APATOW / ADAM MCKAY channel... Any day when SNL, WEDDING CRASHERS, OLD SCHOOL, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, THIS IS THE END, I LOVE YOU, MAN, and others in the genre are on I can escape without anxiety... In defense of avocado toast. It's the heart patient's bagel and cream cheese... A great movie or television show is, in many ways, a miracle. It's such a collaborative art form even with the strong ownership and vision of a director. The fact that all those people, ideas, logistics can ultimately turn into something so flawless. That's amazing. It's something to admire. Whether GOODFELLAS or FANTASIA or BETTER CALL SAUL or THE IN-LAWS... I give credit where credit is due. The TRUMP administration is like a DDoS attack on the news cycle. I literally cannot keep up and I do this for a living. It's remarkable. Reminds me of the I LOVE LUCY famous chocolate factory episode... I met film director, JORDAN VOGT-ROBERTS at a small dinner last year. Super thoughtful guy. And he asks super interesting movie questions on TWITTER. He also has a professional, weapons grade beard... Disappointment is my ACHILLE'S HEEL... If you invite outrageous liars on your show as pundits, don't be surprised when they lie outrageously. Don't have them on. Moron Tour 2017... D2C companies are looking to upend retail's traditional wholesale model, putting tech and efficiency at the core of their businesses. As they continue to scale and new brands enter the space, have they instituted a seismic change for retail? FashionSET: "Straight at You: Direct-to-Consumer Labels"... A lot of the same dopey voters that accuse publications like THE WASHINGTON POST of fake news believe reality TV shows are real... I'm actually excited to see AT&T/DIRECTV/TIME WARNER video product experiences in the future. On paper, the assets are impressive. My old friend WAYNE PURBOO is charting a course. He's got serious skills. More important, he's got passion and that's a necessity for a great product. Keep an eye out... MIKE TROUT is the best—and most overlooked—player in baseball. By choice. Meet the man who doesn't want to be talked about. SportsSET: "Baseball's Forgotten Superstar"... Happy Birthday to ERIC DEMBY, GRAHAM JAMES, ERIN MCPHERSON, PAUL DEGOOYER, DAVE NEUPERT, MARK PALERMO, ARIANE DE BONVOISIN, and ANDY NIBLEY.

Why Some Digital Companies Should Delay Profitability for as Long as They Can
by Maxwell Wessel
nternet companies aren't beholden to industrial-era rules like the principle that the more there is of something, the less valuable it is. Instead, with the internet, the more of something there is, the more valuable it becomes. The bigger your platform, the stickier your service, the more users you have, the more value you'll eventually be able to harvest.
