Humans aren't as good as we should be in our capacity to empathize with feelings and thoughts of others, be they humans or other animals on Earth. So maybe part of our formal education should be training in empathy. Imagine how different the world would be if, in fact, that were 'reading, writing, arithmetic, empathy.'

Eva Marie Saint, James Garner and Rod Taylor in 36 Hours (1964). Is WW II over or not? The film is worth watching with a lens towards fake news and propaganda.

rantnrave:// When you're trying to stay offline and take some time and yet your job is knowing what's going on in the world. The last few weeks have been terrible. And one of the reasons I need media detox more often than I'd like. And yet I feel like that's hiding and not fighting. I have a lot to say about what's gone on lately. It's painful. And I want it to sink in some more before I go there. I don't need to full-up airtime and can benefit from reflection first. The media and politicians can be more helpful to us through reflection. Realizing what repetition and rhetoric can do. From PUERTO RICO to VEGAS to SPAIN to losing our heroes to the inevitable change and loss in things we hold dear and tie to happier moments. It's all like a DALI painting on acid in my head. Bear with me. Currently the results of our leaders kicking the morality can down the road. And I'm not just talking about politicians. Platforms too. I get angrier at the platforms I love. Some days I wish my dreams can access the news and if it's as bad as it's been, keep me asleep. Or let me un-watch THE MICK on FOX so I can rewatch it and laugh for the first time again. We all need smiles. This delivers smiles... In work and in life we all fall into the trap of "it's not the right time." It rarely is. But procrastinating on a hire, fire, change or a vote helps no one. It hurts. There has never been a time in my life where waiting helped when I knew what needed to be done. Never... New waver, HEARTBREAKER, WILBURY, free fallin' solo star, classic-rock elder statesman. TOM PETTY transcended genre and generation to become one of the great American rock and rollers. I don't remember any moment in my life that didn't have music associated with it. And I don't recall any of those moments not having a Tom Petty song. RIP to a life cut way too short. "Remembering Tom Petty: He Was an American Boy" Want more? Check out TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM, the stellar 4-hour doc now on NETFLIX... AMAZON benefits from scale and long-term strategy but has struggled with aesthetic appeal. In its drive for dominance, can it capture not just commerce—but creativity—in fashion? WE take a look in FashionSET: "Amazon Fashion"... If BREXIT goes through can we take the UK out of "It's a Small World?".... He was, for better and sometimes worse, the embodiment of the free-spirited, sexually liberated modern male. He changed the way we live our lives and the way we view other people's lives. And not only in bed. A hero to some, a pariah to others. "Remembering Hugh Hefner: Sexual Revolutionary, Media Pioneer, Very Privileged Male"... Hey, short your private plane stocks. The outrage is coming to corporate AMERICA... You'd think that 3-D product design, 3-D printing and just-in-time inventory management would allow us to order any retro clothes or sneakers ever made... The right thing is usually not hard. And if it is. It's still the right thing... Each day we strive to find items for you that challenge, educate, satiate and breed enough curiosity that you're open to all sides. It's not enough to be smart. You have to be curious. Please enjoy REDEF... Happy Birthday to NORMAN PEARLSTINE and ROB ROSKIN. Belated to MATT MAZZEO, LYOR COHEN, GUY OSEARY, SEAN COHAN, SARAH JEON, SANDRA BRASS, ASHLEY HIGHFIELD, and SAM SCHWARTZ.

Fifteen years on, this paragraph from a Bill Gates' memo is a bit cringe-inducing: The events of last year -- from September's terrorist attacks to a number of malicious and highly publicized computer viruses -- reminded every one of us how important it is to ensure the integrity and security of our critical infrastructure, whether it's the airlines or computer systems.

The Loaded Potato Skins come eight to an order, crispy at the edges, oozing with cheddar, and studded with glistening little nubs of bacon. The Hardest Medium to Troll
by Rachel Taube
Podcast technology is notoriously unsophisticated, especially when it comes to audience engagement or community building. Listeners can't favorite or comment on episodes. It's difficult to discover new shows and nearly impossible to share them. You can't tweet an audio clip. But for all the headaches, there’s an upside for podcasters: it’s also harder for trolls to get in touch.
