They started it—they have no idea what they started. I'm expecting congressional hearings. I'm expecting this to open up a whole look in how artists get screwed.

For her 27th birthday, DirecTV gave her channel 1113. (Jana Beamer)

rantnrave:// Maybe this is what KANYE WEST and DONALD TRUMP discussed on Tuesday. Or maybe they chatted about the economics of music on the radio. So many important issues creatives will have to confront over the next four years. So many economic potholes and landmines. So much opportunity if properly, and transparently, managed. Emphasis on transparency. And management... If the next president needs information about the "dirty Jewish execs" in the music publishing biz, he might want to invite LUPE FIASCO to TRUMP TOWER. Lupe, who spells out how my brethren apparently are stealing his publishing money in this new freestyle, followed up with a TWITTER thread that would have been incredibly offensive even if you thought he was just trolling; the fact that he clearly isn't made it worse. He ended by announcing he was quitting music... NEIL YOUNG once approached Trump for funding for PONO. If you're looking for evidence that Trump has financial wisdom, he apparently said no. So there's that. Young—whose new album, PEACE TRAIL, is pretty good by 21st century Neil standards—wants to move into hi-res streaming now. Donald Trump should probably not invest in that either... TAYLOR SWIFT's AT&T/DIRECTV channel launched Tuesday, her 27th birthday, and it's surprisingly robust with snack-sized performance clips, behind-the-scene footage and welcome-to-my-life tidbits. From a fan's perspective, it's basically a well-stocked YOUTUBE channel, maybe a little harder to navigate. From her perspective, AT&T presumably is paying her a lot more than YOUTUBE would. So there's that... Can someone please remind me why PIERS MORGAN exists?... Late-period CBGB awning goes for 30k at auction... JOHN CAGE'S 4'33" WITH A HUGE S***TY DROP AT THE END... The soundtrack of white nationalism... RIP ALAN THICKE, composer of these TV theme songs.
