The first thing I heard [was] they were going to trade me to the Oakland A's. I said, 'God, please, leave me [in Miami].' Then I heard they traded me to the Cardinals, and I said, 'OK, thanks.'

The Minnesota miracle.
(Hannah Foslien/Getty Images)
Tuesday - January 16, 2018 Tue - 01/16/18
rantnrave:// My reaction was shouting and my jaw dropping. A walk-off, game-winning touchdown. The MINNESOTA miracle. STEFON DIGGS will be used as a one-word expletive of joy in Minnesota from now on. The very reason why most of us watch sports. Why two days later I can't stop talking about that game and that moment. The best in Minnesota sports history. Such a sad and beaten-down group. The Vikings have provided sad moment after sad moment. Four SUPER BOWL losses, including three in four years in the 1970s. The 15-1 team in 1998 that lost in the NFC title game. The reason why GARY ANDERSON is probably a curse word for many Vikings fans. The 2000 team demolished by the GIANTS a game shy of the Super Bowl. The 2009 team that lost to the Saints in OT. It's a franchise with a lot of heartbreak and too few titles. Sunday night's win was flush with jubilation and a reward for those Vikings fans. It's not a championship but for once the Vikings weren't on the wrong end of history. I yelled when I saw it. Can only imagine how loud Vikings fans screamed. Happy for a fanbase that needs a little something good... The JAGUARS and BLAKE bleepin' BORTLES in the AFC title game. How the hell did that happen? Only TOM BRADY left to beat and they go to the Super Bowl. Bortles vs. Brady. That doesn't sound fair. Here we are though. If the Jaguars win the Super Bowl, does JASON MENDOZA celebrate?... "Racing driver and BEARS fan DANICA PATRICK confirms she's dating BACHELORETTE winner's brother"... RIP KEITH JACKSON. Whoa Nellie. The voice of college football. For generations of college fans, there was no big college game without Jackson on the mic. He called so many of the biggest moments in the sport's history. Basically narrated a few decades worth of HEISMAN winners and national champions. The kind of presence that made any game a big one... RIP DOUG HARVEY.

Remembering Keith Jackson and that unforgettable voice of college football
by John Walters
Rose Bowls, Sugar Bowls, Red River Shootouts, Wide Rights and national championships: Jackson called them all. But he also called World Series contests, the inaugural Monday Night Football game in 1970, and Olympic events. He called the gold-medal races for the two most prolific U.S. Olympians of the pre-Michael Phelps era. Not bad for an ex-Marine who had enrolled at Washington State College on the G.I. bill in 1950 with plans of majoring in criminology.
